THE IMPOSSIBILITY OF THE REAL
EDUARDO WOLFE ALEGRIA. SOPHIE LAMPERT. JENNY VAN RATINGEN FRANKIE LA LUKE PITHER
27 June – 20 July 2024
What constitutes reality? Is it merely a mosaic of memories and encounters, each viewed through the unique lens of our perceptions? The tangible and the observable and it is with this intrigue that we address The Impossibility of the Real.
Within The Impossibility of the Real, the artists present their own reality, a journey into the boundless realms of imagination. Here, the rigid boundaries of perception blur, allowing for a seamless merging of individual visions.
Eduardo takes you on a journey through history using mythology and fantasy to construct a new reality. His sculptures taking on an organic yet alien personality that create their own sense of place.
Frankie explores characteristics of her personal identity to construct and explore her heritage, creating cinematic stories within a frame. Are they poetic grabs of life or are they documentary works?
Jenny’s dream like works take on the rational vision of life, taking on the uncanny power of the unconsciousness to create beauty in the unexpected. As well as taking on the idea of fantasy to create an alternate reality.
Sophie’s evocative and intricate black sculptures transport you to another world. Her use of black is compelling, absorbing light and heat, and imbuing her works with charged energy. From the macro perspective to a microcosm of stars, meticulously crafted
Luke creates oil and acrylic paintings and drawings of landscape, flora and botanic forms and their growth, organic and scientific processes and relationships to human nature.

Fooled Enough with Number
January 31 - 17 February 2024
Stanley Street Gallery, Sydney
The statement "fooled enough with numbers" is a bit of a paradox. On the one hand, it suggests that we have been deceived or misled by numbers. On the other hand, it also implies that we have become too reliant on numbers, to the point where we are no longer able to think critically about them. The title comes from a Talking Heads song 'I Get Wild/Wild Gravity.

Gestures often referring to nonverbal communication, are a felt experience. They can be intentional or unintentional, widely recognised or small and intimate.
